Shopping in Edmonton
Plan on an early start on Saturday
morning so that you can enjoy the home-baked goods, garden
produce and unique crafts that the Old Strathcona or
Downtown Farmers' Markets
have to offer the shopper looking for a "touch
of the farm in the heart of the city". Market
tasting samples are plentiful, but the cafés in these
areas offer a comfortable refreshment break for the
weary shopper.
Expand your trip. In Strathcona, browse
the numerous antique and bookshops; in Downtown, search
for fine handmade crafts at the Alberta Craft Council
Gallery or the Art Gallery of Alberta Shop; or wander
amongst the "Gallery Walk" association's
westend art galleries on your way to boutique shops
and lunch in the "High Street" area.
If your feet are ready for more exercise, tackle the
more than 800 shops and services that West Edmonton
Mall provides. Here in the world's largest mall
you will find a wide selection of specialty stores
and entertainment for all ages.
Finally traveling to
the Southside you can do some more "power" shopping
in Canada's Largest Power Centre of South Edmonton
Common. Here you will find outlet stores as well as
one of the largest IKEAs in western Canada.
